LeAP Project Case Study: Implementing Web Services in an Education Environment
Category: IT Management
Overview The case study documents the overall architectures and the key components supporting the core business functions of Plan, Deliver, Report and Assess. A comparison with key current standards frameworks suggests that the current trend in e-Learning standardisation to develop specifications which include behaviours and binding of these behaviours as Web Services is useful. However, the study also identifies that development of a well factored, coherent and consistent framework plus high level service definitions would be of significant value. The LeAP experience is compared to the potential benefits attributed to service oriented approaches (soa's) as an integration and interoperability strategy.
