Impact of Network Outsourcing on Key Performance Indicators

Overview As networks converge and become more complex, service providers continue to search for ways of streamlining their operations. The continuing effort to reduce costs and increase the quality of services is leading an increasing number of service providers to turn to outsourcing as a way to manage the many activities. This division of labor allows the service provider to focus energy on customer satisfaction and new service creation, offloading the infrastructure performance tasks to companies that specialize in that work. This paper discusses the performance indicators that are of highest significance in new, converged technologies, and gives an indication of the thresholds that might be applied in order to detect and correct problems areas in new and converged networks.
