Get a better picture of a potential job by asking these 14 questions
Category: Professions and Industries
Tags: it department, html
Overview To determine whether you'd be happy working in a particular environment, you need as much information as possible. Asking these questions during the interview will give you some insight into whether the job is a good fit.
Deciding whether a job might be right for you is partly a matter of instinct, but you need to gather more than impressions. To make an informed decision, you need to learn as much as possible about the IT department, the position, the company and its managers, and the employees you'd be working with. By asking the questions on this list, you'll get a sense of how well you'd fit in and whether the position is a good match for your skills and personality. This list includes questions like:
- Can you describe a typical day in this role?
- What technologies have you implemented?
- What are the personal growth opportunities (such as leadership training, company-supported community work, and mentoring)?
- Could you describe the work culture (do people work overtime, etc.)?
