Addressing Federal Network Redundancy Requirements: Using VPN Solutions for Network Redundancy

Overview In the past, U.S. federal agencies have implemented some type of wide-area network (WAN) redundancy, such as redundant permanent connections via alternative service providers or on demand connections via dial-up lines. These existing network redundancy alternatives are expensive and inflexible, and/or offer low bandwidth. Juniper Networks offers an alternative for WAN redundancy based on IPSec VPN (Virtual Private Network). Federal agencies can use VPN technology to enhance the resiliency of their existing WAN infrastructure by using the Internet as alternative communication backbone in the event of a network failure. Juniper Networks VPN solutions are secure, cost effective, reliable and easy to integrate into the existing government networks.
