Next-Generation Switch/Router Diagnostics and Debugging
Category: Networking and Communications
Tags: routers
Overview The goal for a next-generation diagnostics and debugging system for switch/routers is to improve system uptime and availability by preventing the occurrence of certain types of hard errors (increasing system MTBF) and by improving fault isolation and resolution time (reducing MTTR). These improvements can be realized by augmenting traditional reactive diagnostics with proactive, autonomous components that can run in the background or can be triggered by events rather than being initiated under operator command.
