3Com Case Study: University of Westminster (UK)
Category: Networking and Communications
Tags: westminster, qos, uk, infrastructure, network, applications
Overview University of Westminster's main objectives was to implement a communications infrastructure that would ensure effective access to the very latest services and applications for many years to come. They needed a network that would provide ample bandwidth to support applications such as streamed video and multicasting. So, they were looking for features such as QoS (Quality of Service) to guarantee continuous timely transmission of high-bandwidth video and multimedia information. After rejecting edge switching products from other manufacturers, the University of Westminster decided it would standardize on a 3Com high performance switching solution based on 3Com SuperStack 3 Switch 4400.
