When SAP upgraded its R/3 application to include a new Graphical User Interface (GUI), the global manufacturer was faced with the dilemma of having to add network capacity. The new GUI increased bandwidth consumption per user session from 2 kbps to 20 kbps. The company needed an immediate solution that would not make significant interruptions to the network or to their daily operations.
