Towards Universal Access to Telecommunication Services in Rural Areas Via Satellite Communication

Overview Rural areas that are inaccessible to terrestrial networks are predominantly provided with a telecommunication link that consists of Satellite Communication modules. The objective is to develop a hardware unit that functions as a basis for assessing the most cost effective communication bandwidth to use based on the nature of the telecommunications service required. The unit will interface to a variety of Wide Area Networks (WAN's) on the user's side. Together with a few additional functions, it lays the foundation for a scalable network with guaranteed performance levels.
