Sizing HP ProLiant and BladeSystem 64-Bit Servers for Exchange 2007 and Large Mailbox Storage Constraints
Category: Storage, Software and Web Development, Servers and Server OS
Tags: exchange 2007, database, server
Overview This paper provides sizing information for running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 mailbox servers on HP ProLiant servers with large mailbox storage constraints. Since Exchange 2007 is a 64-bit application, this substantially changes the server configuration options, allowing much more memory than the 4GB boundary of the previous 32-bit Exchange 2003 environment. The sizing tables and charts presented here show the relationship of guidelines and constraints that have an impact on the choice of ProLiant servers for Exchange deployments. It is important that HP customers deploying Exchange 2007 understand the key relationships and dependencies are between total number of users, type of users (light, medium, heavy, etc.), mailbox size, disk sizes, number of storage groups, and maximum acceptable database sizes.
