Integrating and Managing Premium Messaging Services With a Single Platform
Category: Networking and Communications
Tags: ringtones, video on demand, social networking, revenues, applications
Overview As the market for wireless voice services matures, operators are looking to expand their services and increase revenues by providing premium content. The opportunities for growth are tremendous. Subscribers are no longer satisfied just to download ringtones and send simple text messages. They seek access to richer media and services, such as user-generated content, social networking, location-based services, video on demand, and other Application-to-Person (A2P) messaging applications. The challenges that face operators as they try to tap into these markets, however, are just as great as the opportunities. The suppliers of premium content - service providers, also known as content aggregators, and the third-party content providers they represent - lack standardized, easily managed processes for getting content to wireless subscribers via operators.
