HP OpenVMS Disaster-Tolerant Reference Architectures

Overview This paper presents a concise description of sample OpenVMS disaster-tolerant architectures. OpenVMS environments deliver a full continuum of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Tolerance (DT) solutions, from basic clusters to widely separated disaster-tolerant data centers. This full continuum may, at first look, appear somewhat complex. While no DT implementation can be called "Simple," the goal of this paper is to demystify the apparent complexity of this robust capability. It will show how HP delivers products and services that provide the correct level of availability and disaster tolerance for each OpenVMS implementation. Furthermore, it will show how each step in the continuum builds on the one before, thus protecting investments as well as the data and transactions supported by the IT infrastructure.
