Overview The University of Queensland Information Technology Services (UQ ITS), for example, must ensure the security and reliability of a sprawling infrastructure while providing academic and teaching staff with enough flexibility to use different desktop applications and configurations. The challenge is to maintain high availability for the growing infrastructure with a relatively small pool of staff. In order to better manage its IT infrastructure, UQ ITS invested in Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 and Business Desktop Deployment (BDD), and was one of the first to adopt these products. In 2004, while implementing Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 for staff e-mail, UQ ITS turned to Microsoft Services Premier Support for advice on how to design the system.
