IBM HyperSwap Technology

Overview Many z/OS customers today require their applications to be available 24x7 forever? Customers have implemented Parallel SYSPLEX to provide the highest availability available today. IBM has extended the availability features of SYSPLEX and Parallel SYSPLEX to the Data. Storage Subsystems today manage more and more data, on the average 50+tbs within each disk storage subsystem. Therefore the impact of a disk storage subsystem outage is more widespread, typically impacting a SYSPLEX and potentially causing the SYSPLEX wide outage. To address these outages IBM developed the HyperSwap Technology which can mask Storage Subsystem Failures with an Extended Long Busy to the application I/O followed by a redirection of that I/O to a recovered Metro Mirror Secondary device.
