Overview The BlackBerry solution provides a number of options to enable Java applications for BlackBerry to transport data over the wireless network, connecting to servers residing on the Internet or the corporate intranet, or communicating directly with other BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds. Most Java applications for BlackBerry use standard HTTP or TCP protocols to send and receive information over the wireless network. These modes of transport provide a simple and standard means for communicating with Internet and intranet-based server applications. This paper provides an overview of the alternative wireless transport protocols and how Java applications for BlackBerry can use them.
