Virgin Megastores USA Turns Up the Volume With Unified Communications

Overview To stay competitive in the constantly shifting entertainment market, Virgin Megastores USA relies on strong communications between its home office in Los Angeles and its stores throughout the country. The company wanted a unified communications environment where employees could easily go from voice to instant message to video conferencing without having to switch between different programs or having to worry about how much money a conference call would cost. Virgin Megastores began deploying a solution built on Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, enhancing its phone and conferencing abilities with Microsoft RoundTable and LG-Nortel IP Phone 8540. Virgin Megastores expects an immediate savings of U.S.$50,000 a year by bringing conference calls in-house. The company has also gained flexible communications options without the incremental costs required by a competing solution.
