Quality of Service (QoS) in Voice-Over IP Solutions: Achieving Predictable Service

Overview QoS, or Quality of Service, is a set of techniques to manage network resources to assure that delay-sensitive information travels the network in a timely manner. For Voice-Over IP, this means prioritizing voice packets over the network to avoid delay and packet loss. It is possible to configure the hardware and software on one's network to achieve more predictable service by: supporting dedicated bandwidth, avoiding and managing network congestion, shaping network traffic.
