Overview Panasonic Digital & Networking Laboratory (PDNL) was the principal U.S. computer science-oriented lab of the Matsushita Electric Industrial Company (MEI). The company wanted to add the instant messaging function to open source SIP communicator providing audio/ video data packets transmission and to add the conferencing possibility applying the instant messaging function. The challenge was to modify the Client search system built in open-source SIP server to add the ability to store information about all Clients in the distributed peer-to-peer DHT networks. PDNL deployed BCS-IT as a basis for instant messaging function, development SIP protocol ensures the safe and convenient way of user's authorization and session instantiation.
