VoIP Is Music to Roland's Ears - And Bottom Line
Category: Software and Web Development, Networking and Communications
Tags: caller id, sirius, voip, ip, server, software, applications
Overview Roland had an 18-year-old, proprietary phone system that was unreliable, expensive to maintain, and completely lacking in even basic features such as caller ID. Roland was already a Sirius client, and when Sirius recommended a scalable, flexible IP telephony solution based on reliable IBM System i servers and powerful 3Com software, Roland knew it was precisely what they had been looking for. As a solution Sirius installed two IBM System i model 520 servers (one to handle Roland's phone and Lotus applications and one as a backup server), migrated the Lotus applications to the new servers, and worked with business partner 3Com to implement its Linux-based telephony solution.
