Microsoft Identity and Access Solutions

Overview Microsoft offers a series of technologies that enable organizations to address information protection in the enterprise. These technologies include RMS (Rights Management Services), EFS (Encrypting File Systems), and Bit-locker (BitLocker(TM) Drive Encryption). Each performs different functions in the information security chain, yet all three technologies are complementary elements of information protection--recommended for an enterprise's overall security strategy--and may be used separately or together, depending on an enterprise's security needs. With EFS, all data on a file system, volume, or machine (depending on policy) is encrypted to a key belonging to a single user. BitLocker is a hardware-enabled data protection feature in Windows Vista that helps protect data on a computer when the machine is in unauthorized hands.
