Follow best practice by validating data with PHP's character type functions

Overview This document outlines the more useful functions available in the PHP ctype extension, with explanations and usage examples.

Allowing a user to enter information into a form is one of the most common features of a Web site or an application. However, best practices require that the information given in those circumstances be validated before it is accepted into a database or is used in a calculation. If your scripting language of choice is PHP, you would use the PHP ctype extension for that data validation process. This download shows you several of the more useful functions available in the ctype extension, explains how and when they are used, and provides code examples and samples.
