Internal Fraud: The Risk No One Wants to Face
Category: Security
Overview Internal fraud is a difficult subject to address as no one likes to think that a colleague may be actively defrauding the company. It often occurs where there is a lack of internal controls, or where there are internal controls but they are not monitored or enforced. A recent report conducted by Deloitte and Touche found that 64% of European businesses are open to Fraud or serious irregularities. There have been a number of well-publicised cases, which have predictably lead to demands from customers and insurers that some kind of internal fraud policy should be in place. This hidden menace has become one of the greatest dangers to the telecommunications industry.
