IT Company Cuts Help-Desk Calls 10 Percent, Automates Security Features With Browser

Overview NexTenders' Web-based bid-tendering solution is used in India by government agencies and vendors through a user interface based on the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser, (first, version 5; later, version 6). For security, the solution required users to manually configure browser settings to work with digital certificates and the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol, and add each authenticated Web site to a list. NexTenders migrated its solution to Windows Internet Explorer 7 soon after it was released, to take advantage of native support for Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificates, which made it possible to automate the configuration of browser security settings and confirm trusted sites for users.
