IT Services Provider Uses Virtualization to Cut Costs and Build Agility for Clients
Category: Software and Web Development, Servers and Server OS
Tags: windows server 2008, windows server, operating systems, server, applications
Overview Based in Heidenheim, Germany, Voith IT Solutions provides IT services that support the global operations of its parent company, Voith. To maximize service while minimizing costs, Voith IT Solutions turned to virtualization, but its solution couldn't virtualize 64-bit operating systems or resource-intensive workloads, effectively capping its hosting services. Voith IT Solutions chose Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V technology to eliminate these restrictions. Now it has a scalable server consolidation solution that saved tens of thousands of Euros in hardware costs for Voith in the first six months. More flexible hosting services are driving business agility for Voith, while maximizing performance for its business-critical applications.
