Insurer Manages Corporate Software More Efficiently With Team Development Tools

Overview GEICO (Government Employees Insurance COmpany), one of the largest auto insurance companies in the United States, develops hundreds of custom software applications. These range from small forms to company-wide time-keeping systems. All applications run on an intranet called DirectNet. A team of about 30 developers and engineers manages DirectNet, ensuring that both content and code meet GEICO specifications. The team wanted a tool that could help better handle tasks such as code review and creating inventories of all the applications available throughout the company. The GEICO DirectNet team used the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite development system to create the DirectNet Application Management System. GEICO also used other Microsoft technologies in the project, including Microsoft ASP.NET version 2.0 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
