Checking for Duplicates
Category: Software and Web Development
Overview This paper demonstrates a quick way to find duplicates in a dataset (with both simple and complex keys). It discusses what to do when they are found, and shows the difference between the PROC SORT options NODUP and NODUPKEY. The last example presented in this paper shows how to use the option NODUPKEY to keep only the record with the highest value of a variable when duplicates are found.
