Cost-Effective Service Through a Modern IT Environment
Category: Software and Web Development, IT Management

Overview The City of Rome wished to streamline its IT infrastructure, improve its citizen-facing services and lower its total cost of ownership. The challenge was to reduce cost of ownership through the consolidation of the city's IT infrastructure and use the result to deliver better and innovative eGovernment services to the people of Rome. With the help of Unisys technical consultants, the city's IT staff replaced multiple legacy servers and consolidated their applications onto a single partition of a Unisys ES7000 enterprise server running Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server. This modern architecture is helping to reduce infrastructure costs by up to 25 percent while delivering better operational continuity for newly Internet-enabled eGovernment applications.
