Games Developer Targets Large Markets by Moving to New Mobile Platform

Overview Magmic is a Canadian company that designs and markets games for mobile devices. The company got its start by creating games for cell phones that use the Java and BREW operating environments. By late 2005, however, Magmic saw that the market for Windows Mobile games was increasing exponentially. The company made a strategic decision to add a division that focuses on Windows Mobile games. To do so, it adopted key Windows development tools, including the Microsoft Visual Studio development system and Microsoft DirectDraw application programming interface. Using these technologies, in early 2007 Magmic launched JetPackGames.com, its Windows Mobile gaming division. The division is growing rapidly and is expected to become a core piece of the company's long-term business strategy.
