World's Oldest University Supports 250,000 Students and Alumni With New Technology

Overview The University of Bologna is the second-largest university in Italy. Its 7,000 employees in 23 faculties support more than 120,000 students across 235 degree courses. The University of Bologna wanted to streamline its directory service system to better support its students, alumni, and employees across several sites, departments, and countries. It deployed Microsoft Identity Integration Server 2003 and Active Directory directory services to create a scalable solution that unified disparate administration centres. The system is easy to maintain and has already coped with a 25-fold increase in user numbers.
