Leading Saudi Hospital Migrates to More Secure and Manageable IT Environment
Category: Data Management, Software and Web Development, Security
Tags: it department, windows server, active directory, infrastructure
Overview King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh is one of only four hospitals outside the United States accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organisations. The 800-bed hospital employs 7,000 people and is one of the leading healthcare institutions in Saudi Arabia. The hospital, which was using a number of outdated systems, wanted to migrate from Novell to a solid infrastructure environment that complies with up-to-date technology standards. The hospital's IT department recommended migrating to Windows Server 2003 with Active Directory directory services. Other interlocking Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004, have improved the network's stability and security and made it easier and more cost effective to operate.
