Overview The HP PolyServe Software for Microsoft SQL Server provides an enterprise platform for managing and consolidating SQL Server. As part of this utility model, robust high availability services are automatically available to all instances at all times. This localized availability allows protection against individual failures at multiple levels, including the SQL Server instance, individual hardware components, the physical server, or the infrastructure which is relied upon to maintain client connections. However, when looking at disaster recovery strategies where an entire site is presumed non operational, the data protection managed locally must be extended to an alternate site, often over a great distance. SQL Server 2005 Database Mirroring is a technology for providing this extension and ensuring data protection should a site failure occur.
