Implementing Row-Level Security in Java Applications

Overview Security is a very important aspect of applications. Users need to be authenticated, and data needs to be protected against unauthorized access. Oracle provides an out-of-the-box solution for row-level security in the database: Oracle Label Security. By using the open-source Oracle TopLink as the ORM solution, one can also ensure that this row-level security is maintained in the cache and other parts of the application as well. This paper shows how to make this work via a very simple sample application.
