Information Architecture 101: A Crash Course for the Enterprise Architect - Synergies, Alignment, and the Relationship Between SOA and Infrastructure Virtualization

Overview What is information architecture? The Asilomar Institute for Information Architecture (AlfIA), an Information Architecture (IA) industry body of practitioners, states that IA is "...the design of shared information environments," especially as it relates to Web sites, intranets, online communities, and software. A chief practitioner of IA, talks about IA being the overlap of users, content, and context. But what do these definitions mean to one, the enterprise architect? Typically, during any development project, there is an area where the needs of the users, the structure of the content, and the needs of the organization overlap. It's in this small but very critical niche that an information architect makes their home.
