Overview Verizon Communications, formed by the merger of Bell Atlantic and GTE, is one of the world's leading providers of high-growth communications services. Verizon has been faced with several challenges over the last two years that led to the need for a new ordering solution. The Federal Communications Commission imposed mandates on the Bell Atlantic/GTE merger to form a separate data company to separate voice and data products. At the same time wholesale and retail customer demands for accurate, timely order status have risen sharply. In addition, IT was facing demands to move to commercial infrastructure. Accenture designed and worked with Verizon to deliver the express Transaction Manager (eTM), which was deployed using Vitria BusinessWare Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) software.
