Function Points From UML Specifications

Overview Many software experts claim that length is misleading when trying to size a software product. A better way to generate effort and duration estimates from early life-cycle products is to estimate functionality rather than physical size. There are several ways to measure functionality in a system, but here the paper focuses on function points. In particular, the paper concentrates on how to measure functionality from specifications although function points can be applied to later life-cycle products to refine the size, and therefore cost or productivity, estimation. Since products are implementations of specifications, they both should share the same functionality.
