OOMAPASC Keeps Water Flowing With Progress OpenEdge
Category: Software and Web Development
Tags: cobol, information management, management
Overview OOMAPASC is responsible for sustaining and delivering quality water for more than 100,000 customers in the city of Obreg?n, state of Sonora, Mexico. OOMAPASC's water management system needed significant improvement. The original system, written in COBOL, was a homegrown application developed by one individual within the organization who held all the proprietary knowledge about the system. The system had become inadequate to serve the information management requirements of company executives and the service needs of thousands of customers. Reporting was especially slow, taking IT resources two or three days to generate reports for management analysis and decision-making. The Progress OpenEdge-based AquaSIS application from Progress Partner TDS provided a flexible, cost-effective solution to manage all aspects of OOMAPASC's operations.
