Efficient Experimental Design With Marketing Research Applications

Overview Orthogonal designs are available for only a relatively small number of very specific problems. They may not be available when some combinations of factor levels are infeasible, a nonstandard number of runs (factor level combinations or hypothetical products) is desired, or a nonstandard model is being used, such as a model with interaction or polynomial effects. Consider the problem of designing a discrete choice study in which there are alternative specific factors, different numbers of levels within each factor, and interactions within each alternative. Orthogonal designs are not readily available for this situation, particularly when the number of runs must be limited.
