The Science of Application Debugging

Overview An old maxim holds that every nontrivial computer program has bugs. As a developer, one wants to minimize the number and severity of the bugs that appear in the released application. When a bug is reported, one needs to be able to identify and resolve it as efficiently as possible. Effective debugging requires a scientific approach and an understanding of the tools available to help one identify, understand, and solve the problems that cause bugs.
