Getting From SAS 9.1.3 to SAS 9.2: Migration Tools or Promotion Tools

Overview If one is running a metadata server in one's SAS 9.1.3 environment, one must upgrade their metadata when they move to SAS 9.2. There are two possible approaches to take. The first approach is a migration, which will essentially copy the SAS 9.1.3 environment over to SAS 9.2 as part of the SAS 9.2 installation process. The second approach is to make a fresh start by installing SAS 9.2 first, then promoting specific content from SAS 9.1.3 afterwards. This paper will describe the tools, processes, and considerations for each approach. The goal is to help one make an educated assessment to determine which approach will work best for the user.
