Healthcare Provider Replaces Vignette to Simplify Information Sharing, Cut Costs

Overview Intermountain Healthcare of Salt Lake City, Utah, provides a broad range of healthcare services to residents of Utah and southeastern Idaho, through its network of 21 hospitals and 100 clinics. To encourage more information sharing among its far-flung staff and reduce IT costs, Intermountain moved its intranet from Vignette software to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Microsoft Services helped Intermountain create a bridge between the two programs so that thousands of pages of content could be migrated successfully. Today, more Intermountain employees are posting content to the intranet, which promotes more information sharing and better patient care. The IT staff has trimmed intranet support and development costs by simplifying content posting and user support. Intermountain will also improve regulatory compliance through easier document and records management.
