Purdue University Builds the 104th Most Powerful Cluster in the World Using Dell Servers

Overview Purdue University needed to select one brand and model of server as a building block for its latest community cluster project. Price per floating point operations per second (flops), quality, reliability and simplicity were important considerations. Assisted by a team of 253 volunteers representing several academic and business areas of the university, Purdue assembled a cluster of 812 Dell PowerEdge servers in just four hours, resulting in one of the world's most powerful research clusters.
